Reshaping Education

Family workshop

Saturday 27th of April 2024 - 10am to 5pm Braziers Park

Reshaping Education: Join the conversation

We have all been shaped by our education in ways that we might not recognise. Designing environments for our children which promote optimal health and creative thought is a critical part of moving towards a desirable future on both an individual and collective level.

This workshop is a chance for us to vision together and find ways to co-create the future we would love for our children.

Growing Resilient Children in the 21st Century

We have all been shaped by our education in ways that we might not recognise. Beyond the subjects we are overtly taught there is a hidden curriculum of compliance and meritocratic thinking which affects the way we move through the world. It can restrict our ability to think and act creatively, suppress our natural ability to return to well-being by moving our bodies and processing our feelings.

Agenda

We will begin by unpicking the roots of mainstream education and explore how it lives in our bodies and psyches. We will go on to talk about alternative ways of educating from a range of times and cultures and explore how we can bring inspiration from these into family life. Some of the exercises will incorporate the beautiful grounds at Braziers.

Supervised play will be available for children over 3, children will also be given the opportunity to share their views and ideas using art, drama and discussion.
